Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has described those clamouring for the zoning of the 2019  gubernatorial ticket in the state to Owerri zone as educated illiterates, uniformed and unclanish.

He said those calling for zoning do not have the capacity and that he has performed excellently because he is never a product of zoning.
The governor said Imo is not like Kogi, Plateau or Benue or other states where they have different ethnic groups who have to adopt zoning as a political expediency and for power balancing,
According to him,  Imo State is made up of one ethnic group,  who speaks one language and therefore does not need to zone the office of the governorship.
Okorocha  stated this yesterday during an interactive sessions with  journalists  at the Government House, Owerri
“ What is certain is that there must be a new governor of the state in 2019 and for me those talking about zoning in 2019 are very foolish, educated illiterates and clannish and the era of zoning in the state is over’’, he said.
The point is that a zone cannot be a governor, it is only an individual who has the capacity to pilot the affairs of the state whether it is in Owerri, Orlu or Okigwe let them present themselves.
He added, those who are talking of zoning immediately the get to office what they will be concerned about would be their family members and abandon the state as has been in the past, so the issue of zoning is gone and wherever the persons comes from as longer as he has that capacity and good let it be”.
Meanwhile, Okorocha who said that his Rescue Mission administration has performed more than any other Government since the creation of the state in 1976 especially in the areas of road infrastructure, Education and in Health.
“I had told Imo people in 2011 that I was on a rescue mission and that has marked the style of my administration till date which means breaking away from the old other of poverty and deceit by the past administration. Before I came on board there was hopelessness, poverty, deceit  and ignorance and majority of the people who voted me in were desperate for a change and I have not disappointed the people of Imo.
In all developmental indices this administration has performed excellently well more than all past administrations before it, I have constructed more roads than all previous administrations put together, while Ohakim built only 27 blocks of class room in four years I have built  520 new schools, the enrollment into schools has risen to 800,000 because of the free education policy of this administration. Imo state also has the highest number of the students who the JAMB examinations, the poverty level has also dropped from 19 to 13 percent which means that we have made progress”.
