Wike Commends Go-Round FC For Qualifying For NPL

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has assured the players and management of Go-Round Football Club of Omoku of the support of the State Government as the ply their trade in the Nigeria Premier League.

Addressing the players, management and supporters of Go-Round Football club at the Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike announced the donation of a Toyota Coaster Bus to ease the transportation needs of the club.

He commended Go-Round Football Club for their qualification for the Nigeria Premier League(NPL).

He announced a donation of N50million for the players and N10million for the supporters of the club.

The governor said if the club emerges amongst the first three after the end of the current season, they will be sponsored for an oversea training.

He said that Rivers State Government will continue to promote sports because it is a way of empowering the youths.

The governor said that though Rivers United remains the State-owned club, support will be extended to private entrepreneurs.

In his remarks, Rivers State Commissioner of Sports, Mr Boma Iyaye said that the state-owned club, Rivers United needs companionship in the Premier League.

He said that the club has provided employment for youths and coaches over the years.

General Manager of Go-Round Football club, Mr Sunny Uboh commended Governor Wike for his commitment to sports development.

He urged the governor to support the club, which has brought honour to the State.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of the Nigerian Football League trophy won by the club to the Rivers State Governor. The General Manager also presented branded jerseys of the club to Governor Wike.
