Greetings from the Students Union Government, Rivers State University. In the face of this Covid-19 pandemic that has shut down various Institutions across the globe, we’re deeply saddened that it has also halted the academic activities of our dear University. But notwithstanding, the shutdown is a welcome development as it would ensure the safety of all students.

Going by the directives of the Federal Government and the State Government, to introduce E-learning scheme in Tertiary Institutions, the Students’ Union Government, contacted the Vice Chancellor to know/understand the position of the Institution on this new development.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Nlerum Okogbule, informed the SUG, that going by the steady academic calendar being maintained by the University from its inception, the management of the institution is painstakingly evaluating the best form in which the E-learning scheme can be carried out to ensure the academic calendar of the institution is achieved.

The VC, also stated that since the Regular Students had almost completed First semester of the 2019/2020 academic session, that management would determine how the students would be able to write their exams online in her next Senate Meeting.

The SUG therefore urges all students to use this period whilst they’re at home to read their books and prepare for their exams, as the exams might be held online. And possibly also lectures the second semester would commence online. Full details of how this would run, in her next Senate Meeting.

Thank you all and ensure you maintain social distancing and all safety measures stipulated by NCDC. Stay safe, RSU SUG cares about you!
