On Saturday the Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has confessed he felt bad keeping Mason Mount on the bench for his team’s clash against West Brom on Saturday and has told him so.

Mount was benched on Saturday as his team welcomed relegation battling West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

However, the Englishman came in the second half with the Blues already 2-1 down and with the veteran defender, Thiago Silva sent off in the 28th minute.

Tuchel told BT Sport that he was left with a “very bad feeling” at having to bench the midfielder.

Asked specifically about Mount and how important it is he is fresh to take on Porto, Tuchel said, “It’s very important that he’s with us.

“I told him, ‘It’s a very bad feeling for me to leave you out, already I want you always on the pitch.’

“But like I said, yesterday we went for that tiny decision to leave the guys out who played full on Wednesday and did not play in full yesterday.

“Mount is likely to start against Porto [in the Champions League] in midweek. So nothing personal at all.”
