You are attacking Ikpeazu, Senator Orji because they refused supporting your failed Guber ambition – PDP tell Ume Kalu

The attention of the Abia PDP has been drawn to an article with the above headline written by one Umeh Kalu, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State for ten years under the leadership of governors T. A. Orji and Okezie Victor Ikpeazu. It was difficult for us to believe that Umeh Kalu owns the byline credited to him because the article does not bear the imprimatur of a learned silk, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, but relying on a reckless pattern of behaviour which he has exhibited overtime, we are constrained to assume that he owns it.

We are to say the least, not disappointed with Umeh Kalu because it is typical of him and he is acting to the stereotype of a man who bites the fingers that fed him just to stay afloat. Umeh Kalu developed the penchant of attacking the Abia State government and Governors T. A. Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu when he realised that his governorship ambition under the PDP did not sit well with the duo, apparently because they had studied his personality type and discovered that he does not have what it takes to govern Abia State.

Since Umeh Kalu lost out of the PDP guber race, he has done nothing but to lampoon Abia State government at the slightest opportunity and most times shooting himself in the feet, having been a part of whatever went wrong in Abia State, if there is any. As the Chief Law Officer for twelve years, Umeh Kalu served Abia State and did not to the knowledge of anybody object to any of the many policies that he finds convenient to criticise, nor did he resign because he found any of those policies objectionable.

Without trying to dignify Umeh Kalu with an extensive response to his ill-advised and unfounded vituperation just to help him crawl into significance and deviously find a place in the incoming Dr. Alex Otti, administration, because that exactly is what he is aiming at, we will only make apt clarifications so that impressionable minds in society would not take his outburst seriously. He does not deserve to be listened to.

Without any fear of contradictions, His Excellency Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu remains the executive governor of Abia State until May 29 2023 and has the powers to execute any projects he desires, employ anybody he wants to employ and conduct local government elections, if he so desires. Whatever he does in the remaining days that are within the ambit of the law is not actionable. Umeh Kalu and his likes can fret as much as they can but it won’t change anything.

Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu made a solemn promise to Abians that he would deliver the new Abia Government House before the terminal date of his administration and that is exactly what he is working very hard to deliver. Umeh Kalu and his company of bloated opportunists would not distract him. He is a promise keeper and would work to deliver. In 2015 when he campaigned to be governor of Abia State, he promised Abians that he would make their lives better and seven years down the line he did that when the National Bureau of Statistics in its 2022 Multidimensional Poverty Index, MPI released in October 2022, named Abia as one of the best five States in Nigeria and the best in the South East, ahead of Anambra, when measured against the four key sectoral indices of health, education, standard of living and security. That is a promise kept.

As we await the May 29 2023 swearing in of the governor-elect Dr. Alex Otti, we want to warn him to be wary of men like Umeh Kalu who would stop at nothing to destroy a friend just to climb a ladder. A leopard never changes its spots and it is good enough that Umeh Kalu is showing himself early enough for you to see who and what he is. One wonders what manner of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN would be busy chasing the position of a Commissioner like a hungry man chasing a rabbit, when other learned silks are busy chasing big briefs. Perhaps, the silk earned at the instance of the Abia State government was not deserved in the first place because the nut apparently does not fit the hole.

We call on members of the PDP and the good people of Abia State to ignore the devious antics of Umeh Kalu and remain calm, steadfast  and resolute and also to support the present administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to deliver on his promises and support a seamless transition of power on May 29, 2023.

*PDP – Power to the People!*

*Hon. Elder Abraham Amah*

*Abia PDP Vice Chairman/Acting State Publicity Secretary*
