The Honourable Member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu has appreciated his constituents for their unwaivering support during the last general elections, assuring them of quality and effective representation.

Hon. Chinwendu made his feelings known during an enlarged press conference in Umuahia. He reiterated his commitment and determination to change the negative narratives for the better, make quality laws that will have direct impact on them and Abians at large, bring about the desired democracy dividends through legislations, oversight functions and representation.

Reacting to the issues and some of the controversies surrounding the ongoing leadership saga in the Abia 8th House of Assembly, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu described such insinuations as not only untrue and unfounded, but a figment of the imagination of a few mischief makers and political detractors who are hellbent on tarnishing the image of PDP lawmakers in the state, urging Abians, especially members of his constituency to make inquiries before pebbling such rumors while making it clear that he never received any $3,000 from Governor Alex Otti prior to their inauguration as alleged.

He used the opportunity to disclose that what he and his colleagues in Abia State House of Assembly have so far received is far below what is statutorily due to them as state legislators and wondered what they are expected to do with such a “meager amount” paid to them on 28th June 2023, especially when one considers the huge expectations of their constituents from them.

Still on the anomaly in respect to the leadership crisis at the State House, the Omoba self styled politician noted that what played out on the floor of the House on the 14th of June, 2023 was undemocratic and will soon be corrected as they, the PDP lawmakers have gone to court to challenge the reason while the majority leader should be nominated from the minority even when the PDP lawmakers are greater in number in the House.

Hon. Chinwendu while reiterating his commitment and determination to change the negative narratives for the better, also restated his resolve to periodically interact with members of his constituency with a view of making explanations where necessary, which is in line with his campaign promise. He solicited for their sustained support and prayers to deliver on his mandate and promised not to renege on any of his campaign promises.
