Amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has suggested that the “the ultimate goal is impeachment and not peace”.

After Governor Siminalayi Fubara was refused entry to the State House of Assembly, Sani was responding to the most recent event in the state.

“Impeachment, not peace, is the ultimate goal in Rivers; what happens after that is up to God,” Sani stated.

According to reports, Fubara was refused entry to the Rivers State House of Assembly’s quarters on Wednesday, where plenary sessions were being held.

According to information obtained, Fubara tried to enter the Assembly quarters to deliver the state budget for 2025 but was blocked by a locked gate.

Remember that the governor had previously promised to carry out the Supreme Court’s ruling, which included formally presenting the budget for 2024.

Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, has been accused by Fubara of purposefully avoiding him.

Prior to the incident, Fubara claimed to have phoned Amaewhule multiple times, but the Speaker would not take his call.
