The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has strongly criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing its Renewed Hope Agenda as a “classic scam.”

Speaking at the ADC National Convention in Abuja, the former Minister of Interior called on the president to resign, citing worsening economic conditions and insecurity across the country.

Aregbesola accused the All Progressives Congress government of failing to deliver on its promises, noting that the naira has depreciated significantly while fuel prices have increased, placing hardship on citizens.

He questioned when the promised “renewed hope” would materialize, insisting that the policy has not translated into tangible improvements for Nigerians.

The former Osun State governor also criticised the state of electricity supply, claiming that many areas now receive only a few hours of power daily, while others experience prolonged blackouts.

On security, he pointed to rising violence as evidence of leadership failure, arguing that the administration has not effectively addressed the situation.

Aregbesola further alleged that the ruling party has undermined democratic principles and normalized irregularities within the electoral system in a bid to retain power.

He also expressed concern over increasing poverty levels and the number of out-of-school children, describing the overall situation as a drift into deeper hardship.

Positioning the African Democratic Congress as a viable alternative, he said the party is on a mission to “rescue” Nigeria and urged citizens to support it, warning that remaining neutral in the current political climate would amount to complicity.
