The Imo State chapter of the Action Peoples Party has dismissed reports claiming that a Federal High Court in Gusau, Zamfara State, nullified the party’s nationwide congresses.
The reports alleged that the court, presided over by Justice Hamza Mohamed, invalidated all congresses conducted and supervised by the party’s national leadership under Barrister Uchenna Nnadi, a move said to affect the Imo State chapter.
However, the party’s state chapter has refuted the claim, insisting that no such judgment or exparte order exists from any court in Zamfara State.
The Imo chapter, alongside others across the country, had conducted its congress in April 2026, producing Hon. Ernest Njesi as state chairman and other officials.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Steve Nnadi, maintained that the reports were false and should be disregarded.
He said there was no court ruling nullifying the party’s congresses nationwide or deregistering the party.
“Imo APP members and the general public should ignore and disregard the fake news from the pit of hell which is the handiwork of All Progressive Congress led government of Imo state.
“It is indeed a cacophony and blabbing of an outgoing failed government which must not be taken seriously in its entirety.
“To this end, let it be clear that the federal high court in Zamfara state lacks jurisdiction to entertain such exparte motion brought by a faceless Kelechi Anyanwu unknown to the party,” he said.
