Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has advised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to start Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka in the second leg of their Champions League semi final clash against Atletico Madrid.
Arteta had left both players out of the starting lineup in the first leg on Wednesday, which ended in a 1 1 draw.
Eze and Saka were introduced in the second half as Viktor Gyokeres and Julian Alvarez scored to leave the tie evenly poised.
Speaking after the match, Gerrard stressed the importance of deploying key players from the start in decisive fixtures.
“In the second leg, you’ve to get Eze on the pitch,” Gerrard told TNT Sports.
“I think he gives Arsenal just that little bit more spark, and he just looks that little bit more dangerous for me.
“Saka does starts second leg for me. You play your big game players in the second leg.”
