Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has singled out Martin Odegaard and David Raya for praise following the club’s hard fought 1 0 Premier League victory over West Ham United on Sunday.
Although Leandro Trossard scored the decisive late second half goal at the London Stadium, Arteta believes Odegaard and Raya played the key roles that secured all three points for the Gunners.
The Arsenal boss pointed to crucial moments created by both players during the encounter, particularly Raya’s important save and Odegaard’s influence in the buildup to the winning goal.
Speaking during his post match press conference, Arteta said:
“I think we got rewarded because Martin made an incredible action to win us the game, apart from David’s save in the 70th minute.
“If you want the chance to major trophies, you need the individuals creating those magic moments, and David certainly like Martin Odegaard created a moment to win us the game.”
The win further strengthens Arsenal’s push in the Premier League title race as Arteta’s side continues its impressive campaign.
