A faction of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, led by its National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, has issued a seven day ultimatum to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to stop presenting himself as the party’s 2027 presidential candidate.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Nafiu insisted that Atiku is neither the party’s presidential candidate nor has he ever been officially nominated by the ADC for the 2027 general election.

He directed the former vice president to immediately stop making statements on behalf of the party and demanded a public apology to ADC members and stakeholders.

According to him, Atiku has seven days to issue the apology or face legal action.

Nafiu also warned Atiku against using the party’s name, logo, or emblem to spread what he described as false information about the ADC.

The faction further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to remove the names of members of the National Working Committee led by Senator David Mark from its official portal.

It urged the electoral commission to recognize and upload what it described as the authentic National Working Committee of the party in compliance with a recent court judgment.

According to Nafiu, the judgment directed INEC to withdraw recognition from the David Mark led National Working Committee and invalidated all decisions, resolutions, and actions taken by the committee.
