Spain have been crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 in the final.
The victory secured Spain’s second World Cup title, adding to their maiden triumph at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Luis de la Fuente’s side dominated possession and controlled the match from start to finish, while Argentina struggled to make a significant impact.
Despite Spain’s superiority, the game remained goalless after the regulation 90 minutes and into the first half of extra time.
Argentina’s task became even more difficult after Enzo Fernández was sent off for a second bookable offence, reducing the South Americans to 10 men.
Spain eventually found the breakthrough early in the second half of extra time when Ferran Torres fired home after a headed knockdown from Nico Williams, sealing a deserved victory and the world title.
