Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Elijah Upson after the young defender agreed to his first professional contract with the Premier League champions.
The 18 year old central defender joins Arsenal after deciding to leave Tottenham, where he turned down an offer of a professional contract.
Upson is the son of former Arsenal defender Matthew Upson, who also began his professional career with the North London club.
Speaking after completing the move, Upson expressed his delight at joining Arsenal.
“It’s a great feeling, really proud to be here.
“My dad signed here around the same time as me; it’s great to have someone with a good experience of the place.”
The promising defender will now continue his development with Arsenal after opting against extending his stay at Tottenham.
