An aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairmanship, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has denied endorsing the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, George Akume, for the position.
Sheriff described the reports of him endorsing Akume for APC National Chairman as false.
In a statement by his Deputy Campaign Director, Cairo Ojougboh, Sheriff said he is still in the race for the APC National Chairmanship, NAN reports.
The former Borno State governor said he is still consulting with relevant stakeholders within the party.
According to the statement: “Our attention has been drawn to a report that the Ali Modu Sheriff Campaign Organisation has joined forces with Malam Isa Yuguda Support Organisation to support the candidacy of George Akume for APC National Chairman.
“The report is fake and should not be regarded, it is nothing but a figment of the imagination of those who planted it.
“We categorically state that the report which claimed that the Sheriff Campaign Organisation is working to ensure that George Akume emerged as APC’s national chairman at the National Convention is a blatant lie from the pit of hell.”
