The Old Oyo-Ogbomosho Road’s terrible state prompted the Senate to call Dave Umahi, the minister of works, on Wednesday.

This came about as a result of a motion of pressing public interest made by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai (APC, OyoNorth), who called attention to the road’s poor state among his colleagues.

According to Abdulfatai, travelers have experienced hardships on the road, which is a crucial route between the South and the North. The majority of them were frequently left stranded because of the road’s bad condition.

He claims that the road has remained in poor condition for more than ten years after the federal government started significant repairs, leading to frequent collisions and daily traffic jams caused by articulated vehicles.

Umahi is scheduled to testify before the Senate Committee on Works to provide an explanation for the reasons behind the large-scale road abandonment that occurred years after the contract was signed.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, requested the Committee on Works to report back to the plenary in three weeks after the senators overwhelmingly supported the motion.
