The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a significant surge in its membership, which it says has now surpassed 800,000.
Spokesman Luckyman Egila disclosed this during a press conference in Port Harcourt over the weekend, revealing that the party has attracted several high-profile politicians, including two former governors and prominent federal lawmakers, in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.
Egila confirmed that former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia have joined the ADC. He also stated that Prince Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is now a member of the party.
“These persons have left their former parties, and they are now full members of the ADC. And you can only become a member of a party when you have registered with that party and issued it with a membership card. So all of them are now full members of the ADC,” Egila explained.
The ADC spokesman further listed former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Austin Okpara, and former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo, among the notable figures now in the party’s fold.
“The names I have mentioned are all key politicians in Rivers State, and of course, you can’t write these people off. They are all members of the ADC,” he added.
