The Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON, has intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 General Elections with courtesy visits to prominent traditional institutions in Abia North, where he received royal blessings and assurances of support.
Chief Bourdex, popularly known as Ugo’Ena Nde Abiriba, visited the Enachioken-in-Council alongside the revered traditional rulers of the 17 villages of Abiriba before proceeding to the palace of the Udumeze of Ohafia and the 26 Eziogos of Ohafia.
According to the Labour Party senatorial candidate, the visits were in keeping with the age-long tradition of seeking the prayers, blessings, and fatherly counsel of elders before embarking on significant assignments.
He explained that he appeared before the royal fathers not only as the Labour Party’s candidate for Abia North but first as a son of the soil seeking their goodwill and blessings as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
Chief Bourdex expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him, noting that the traditional institutions pledged their goodwill and support to the Labour Party, Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, his senatorial aspiration, and other Labour Party candidates across Abia North, particularly those from Ohafia Local Government Area.
He said the encouragement and prayers received from the monarchs further strengthened his resolve to pursue people-oriented leadership anchored on unity, development, and service.
The Labour Party candidate assured the traditional rulers that, if elected, he would remain an accessible and accountable representative committed to quality legislation, effective representation, and sustainable development across the senatorial district.
As part of his engagements, Chief Bourdex also attended a Youth Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Training Programme organised by the Wife of the Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area at the council headquarters.
Addressing the participants, he urged young people to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation, and vocational skills, describing them as essential tools for economic empowerment in today’s rapidly changing world.
He encouraged the youths to reject idleness and social vices while cultivating discipline, hard work, and excellence as pathways to personal and community development.
Chief Bourdex commended the Wife of the Mayor, Jobberman, and the Mastercard Foundation for investing in youth development through the training programme, describing the initiative as a worthwhile investment in the future of Abia State.
He also used the occasion to urge young people to continue supporting the administration of Governor Alex Otti, stating that the government’s developmental strides have restored hope and demonstrated the impact of purposeful leadership.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Abia North, Chief Bourdex expressed optimism that, with continued unity and support, the Labour Party would record victory across the senatorial district in the 2027 General Elections while sustaining the developmental vision of the present administration.
