African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of worsening the economic conditions of Nigerians, saying millions are facing severe hardship, rising inflation and an escalating cost of living.

Sowore said the current reality contradicts the promises made by President Tinubu during his inauguration on May 29, 2023, when he announced the removal of fuel subsidy and assured Nigerians that the decision would eliminate corruption in the oil sector and improve living standards.

Since the subsidy removal, fuel prices have risen repeatedly, contributing to higher transportation costs, inflation and increased economic pressure on households across the country.

Reacting to the situation in a post on his X account, Sowore said Nigerians are now experiencing what he described as “shege promax.”

“They told Nigerians that removing the fuel subsidy would improve their lives. Instead, under Tinubu, millions have been plunged into deeper hardship, soaring inflation and an unprecedented cost of living crisis,” he wrote.

He added that the economic reality confronting ordinary Nigerians falls far short of the expectations created when the subsidy removal policy was introduced.
