Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal, has identified Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappe, as his biggest rival for the 2026 Ballon d’Or award.
Yamal made the statement during an interview with Movistar, where he described himself and Mbappe as the two best players in the world.
However, the Spanish youngster insisted that he deserves to win the prestigious individual award ahead of the French forward.
“Kylian Mbappe and I, we are the two best in the world.
“But I think I am the one who deserves to win the Ballon d’Or,” Yamal said.
Both players were included in the 30 man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Yamal enjoyed a successful campaign, winning the LaLiga, Copa del Rey and World Cup titles.
Mbappe also had an impressive season, finishing as the top scorer in the Champions League, LaLiga and World Cup.
The Ballon d’Or race is expected to remain closely contested as Yamal and Mbappe compete for the prestigious individual honour.
