Supreme Court Upholds Election of Okezie Ikpeazu as Abia Governor

A Seven Member Panel of Supreme Court Justices has upheld the election of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as the duly elected governor of Abia State in the April 11th and 25th Governorship election.

The Court its its rulling frowned at the Judgement of Justice Oyebisi Omelye led Panel of Appeal Court Justices which on the 31sth of December 2015 gave an order for the Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) Dr Alex Otti to be sworn in.

The Supreme ruled that Alex Otti of the All Progressive Grand Allaince failed to convince the court on its claims of Over-voting and non complaince to the electoral guidlines.

The APEX court stated that the election which brought Okezie Ikpeazu as Abia State governor complied to all laid down rules in the Electoral Act and that he was validly returned by INEC as the duly elected governor of Abia State
