The Minister Of Justice and Attorney General Of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria Mr Abubakar Malami SAN,yesterday shocked a former General Superintendent of Assemblies Of God Nigeria Chief Paul Emeka who is standing trial for forgery at the Upper Area Court sitting in Gudu Abuja .
At the resumed sitting of the Court Yesterday,Counsel to Chief Paul Emeka Barr J U Ajii had brought an FCT High Court Order dated 27th of June 2017 praying the Court to Stay further proceedings on the case pending the determination of his Appeal against the Order of the Court at the FCT High Court.
But 1 A Charles Okolie Mrs,Prosecutor sent from the Attorney General of the Federation told the Judge that the Attorney General of the Federation Instructed her to take over the Prosecution from the Incorporated Trustees of Assemblies Of God Nigeria.
Counsel to Chief Paul Emeka opposed the Application of the Attorney to take over the case,but the Presiding Judge Justice Umar Yusuf Kagarko told him that the law does not permit him to disobey the wish of the Office of the Attorney General.
The Prayers of the Attorney General was granted,and the AGF applied to change the charge to read”Federal Republic Of Nigeria Vs Paul Emeka instead of Incorporated Trustees of Assemblies Of God Vs Paul Emeka as it previously Read.
The AGF moved a motion for Adjournment to help him study previous events on the Case
After opposition by the Counsel to Chief Paul Emeka,19th September was choosen by parties as the next adjourned Date.
