The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed reports of internal crisis within its ranks, insisting that the party remains united and fully focused on winning the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement shared on the party’s verified X account on Friday, the NDC said recent reports suggesting internal divisions were misleading and did not reflect the reality within the party.
“There are no issues in the NDC. We are focused on taking Aso Rock,” the statement read.
The clarification comes amid heightened political speculation following a closed door meeting between the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Providing insight into the meeting, Dickson said both leaders reviewed recent developments within the party and addressed concerns that had generated public discussion.
According to him, the discussions were constructive, and all outstanding issues were resolved amicably.
He emphasized that the party remains committed to continuous consultation and engagement among its members to strengthen internal cohesion and maintain unity ahead of the 2027 general election.
Dickson added that the NDC leadership would continue to prioritize dialogue and consensus building as part of efforts to consolidate the party’s position as a major opposition force.
The renewed assurance from the party leadership signals an attempt to project stability and reinforce confidence among supporters as political activities ahead of 2027 continue to gather momentum.
