Aisha Yesufu, a social critic, has attacked Mr. Julius Abure, the former National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), for allegedly lying about the party’s finances.
“He thinks one can lie shamelessly without being fact-checked,” stated Aidsha in an X post.
The declaration follows Abure’s allegation that Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo were in charge of overseeing the party’s presidential candidate funding for the general election in 2023.
Abure claimed that the party never had access to the accounts set up for donations to promote Obi’s candidacy, despite rumors that he mismanaged the party’s finances.
He had maintained that the only signatures on the accounts were those of Yesufu and Ighodalo.
“The party was never involved in the distribution of those resources. Our interest was to see how we could produce a president for the party. How it was done was not our concern. Hence, we gave them free rein. We allowed them to entrust their resources to whomever they wanted. We followed them loyally by allowing them to administer the campaign funds,” Abure said.
Nonetheless, Yesufu uncovered Abure’s 2022 post on X, in which he urged followers to take charge of the party’s campaign by making a minimum N1,000 donation to the Labour Party account.
“Julius Abure thinks we are still in 1980 where one can lie shamelessly without being fact-checked,” Aisha attacked the beleaguered party chairman, posting on X.
