A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Aisha Yesufu, has reacted to a viral video showing Vice President Kashim Shettima running towards the podium during the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Cross River State.
The video, recorded at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, showed Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, running towards the podium during the campaign event.
After reaching the podium, Shettima displayed his familiar dance moves, with Yilwatda joining him as they attempted to energise the crowd.
The vice president’s actions were interpreted by some observers as an effort to demonstrate his physical fitness amid claims questioning President Bola Tinubu’s capacity to govern the country.
Reacting to the footage, Yesufu, a strong supporter of NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi, suggested that Obi had challenged politicians to demonstrate their physical strength.
Sharing the video on her official X handle, the activist wrote, “Peter Obi don give Nigerian politicians assignment”.
Similarly, an X influencer, Shehu Gazali Sadiq, mocked the ruling party over the campaign rally, claiming that Tinubu would lose the January 16 election despite the party’s efforts.
He wrote, “This is APC campaign rally in Cross River state. Kashim Shettima ran a 100m race to prove that Tinubu is fit.
“A flat rally. No excitement, no enthusiasm, very dull and negative atmosphere. The crowd was scanty. Sowore will pull more crowds than this one. Bro, APC and Tinubu will go”.
